Specifications include, but are not limited to: qualified Commercial Diving License Truck Driving School for the purpose of delivering instruction, skills training services and commercial truck operations to students desiring to earn a Class A commercial driver’s license (CDL). The school must be approved by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Association (FMCSA) and licensed in Nevada by the Department of Motor Vehicles, Occupational business licensing. Additionally, the school must be third-party certified to ensure high-quality training. The classroom instruction and training services will utilize a training facility provided by the Successful Proposer. Classroom instruction and hands-on training should be provided at a minimum consisting of morning and evening classes, Monday through Saturday (not including holidays). Proposers shall provide a response with their proposed schedule for CSN evaluation. The CDL program should consist of classroom theory/training and hands-on training to enable students to obtain a commercial driving license. The school should provide training, guidance, and study materials to help students pass the written permit exam. The program should include the mandatory 160 hour training course with 40 hours of classroom theory training and 120 hours of hands-on training with commercial vehicles. The program should not only focus on preparing students to pass their CDL exam but also equip them with the necessary skills to excel in their new careers. Students should develop a solid understanding of the fundamentals of operating commercial vehicles, learn best practices for handling various conditions to ensure optimal safety for themselves and other road users and stay updated on state and federal laws to maintain compliance. Upon completing the classroom portion of their training, students should undergo three weeks of intensive hands-on training with commercial trucks. This training should cover pre-trip inspection, skills development, and driving experience. In the fourth week, students should be tested in-house on their pre-trip inspection, skills, and driving abilities to obtain their commercial driver's license. An essential component of the program is the presence of a job placement department that can assist students in finding employment opportunities upon completion of the CDL program. The school should have established connections with reputable trucking companies and be committed to helping students secure suitable job placements. Furthermore, the school should collect data to track employment success and conduct job market analysis.
