Specifications include, but are not limited to: The work to be performed on this contract shall consist of first removing, processing, dewatering, handling, and physical disposal of existing sludge from both the North and South digester tanks located at the River Road Wastewater Treatment Plant up to three (3) times over one calendar year (or 365 calendar days). The total estimated amount of sludge for both the North & South digesters to be processed and removed during each equipment setup period is estimated to be approximately 250 tons, for a total of 750 tons over the one-year period. The sludge processing operation is anticipated to require 2-3 weeks of processing for each setup. Hauling and physical disposal at the River Birch Landfill will be required. The approximate distance from the River Road Wastewater Treatment Plant site to the River Birch landfill is 26 miles. The contractor will not be responsible for the landfill disposal fees. River Birch Landfill will bill St. John the Baptist Parish directly for the landfill disposal fees. The Parish will be responsible for pumping down the digesters to sludge level. The intent is for this to be completed prior to mobilization by the Contractor to minimize potential delays. The Contractor shall notify the Parish Utilities (Sewer) Department in advance of the scheduled mobilization date and the anticipated schedule for performing the sludge removal process at the two digesters for each setup.
