Specifications include, but are not limited to: 4.1.1.1 Vendor shall cut tree(s) upon the request of the Agency. Cut the main stem or stems flush with the ground or parallel to the contour of the slope. Cut tree(s) utilizing the utmost safety to the contractor, their employees, the traveling public, surrounding structures and vegetations. If tree(s) to be cut pose a safety concern, the Agency shall direct the Vendor to de-limb, and/or cut the tree(s) in sections prior to making the final ground level flush cut. 4.1.1.2 Vendor shall prune limbs of tree(s) per the request of the Agency. Prune limb(s) in accordance and compliance with the current ANSI A300 Standards. At a minimum when pruning, remove limb(s) cut back to the next lateral branch or trunk of tree. Do not leave stubs or injure the branch collar. 4.1.1.2.1 Tree(s) shall be “Crown Cleaned” as needed, to include but not limited to, removal of all stubs, waterspouts, suckers, dead, dying, diseased, damaged, and weakly attached branches, inflorescence, fruits, nuts at any stage of growth, removal of all epiphytes, and vines. 4.1.1.2.2 Tree(s) shall be “Crown Thinned” as needed, to include but not limited to, clearing of all excessive growth, selective pruning of tree(s) by use of thinning and drop-crotch methods to reduce excessive limb end-weights on long horizontal and semihorizontal limb, and the removal of cross and/or conflicting branches within the crown. 4.1.1.2.3 Tree(s) shall be “Crown Contained” and/or “Crown Reduction” as needed, to include but not limited to, selective thinning and drop-crotch methods to reduce crown height, contain branch(es) and or limb(s) away from buildings, roofs, utilities, streetlights, driveways, flag poles, fence lines, between tree(s) and other obstacles. 4.1.1.2.4 Tree(s) shall be “Crown Raised” as needed, to include but not limited to, selective pruning of low branch(es) and/or limb(s) to provide adequate overhead clearances away from vehicle and pedestrian traffic. 4.1.1.2.5 Tree(s) that have previously been topped require “Crown Restoration” work. One (1) to three (3) sprouts on the main branch stubs are selected to become permanent branches and to reform a more natural appearing crown. Selected vigorous sprouts may need to be thinned to a lateral to control length of growth and ensure adequate attachment for the size of the sprout. 4.1.1.2.6 The following shall apply to all tree(s): 4.1.1.2.6.1 Raise ceiling heights to a minimum of: 4.1.1.2.6.1.1 Eight (8) feet above pedestrian walkways. 4.1.1.2.6.1.2 Twelve (12) feet above driveways and parking. 4.1.1.2.6.1.3 Ten (10) feet above lawn and other planting areas. 4.1.1.2.6.1.4 Eight (8) feet over roofs. 4.1.1.2.6.1.5 Four (4) feet over fences. 4.1.1.2.6.2 Clear crown from buildings, fences, and other structures by four (4) feet, minimum. 4.1.1.2.6.3 Clear front of signs so face is visible from all views. 4.1.1.2.6.4 Clear flag poles by ten (10) feet. 4.1.1.2.6.5 Clear light and utilities by six (6) feet. 4.1.1.2.6.6 Clear light fixture(s) so light will illuminate designated areas. 4.1.1.3 Vendor shall, upon completion of tree cutting and/or pruning, remove all debris at the end of each workday. No burning of debris is allowed. Disposal shall be in accordance with state and local laws, and any costs incurred for disposal shall be the responsibility of the Vendor.
