Specifications include, but are not limited to: • Must possess and maintain: o Certification from the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation in Group Crisis Intervention or o Proof of successful completion of first responder peer support training compliant with Ohio Revised Code (2317.023) which includes a 16-hour onboarding peer support course including an introduction to peer support services, basic peer support skills, identifying risk factors of mental health for first responders, understanding confidentiality and privacy, identifying local mental health support resources, understanding communication, and conflict resolution • Translate personal experience in front line public safety positions into wellness practices when interacting with first responder peers. • Maintain strict confidentiality except in duty to report situations. • Develop relationships with community wellness partners including clinicians, nonprofit organizations, veterans agencies, and other first responder services providers. • Work with, train, maintain, handle therapy animals. • Lead and facilitate discussions in small or large groups on critical stress or evidence-based trauma response and recovery • Respond to evolving critical incidents outside of working hours. • Provide direct, ongoing, culturally competent support to members of the department coping with personal or professional stress and to external first responders upon request • Connect employees with culturally aware mental, physical, or emotional health resources • Assist in developing and implementing wellness initiatives for the Cincinnati Police Wellness Program • Assist administrators in creating trauma-informed and evidence-based action plans for employees coping with critical incidents, administrative stress, or personal hardship • Identify and work with employees in need of early intervention wellness support with consideration to best practices and Cincinnati Police Policies • Stay apprised of current trends in wellness, peer support standards, available resources, and evidence-based care • Demonstrate knowledge of best practices in first responder wellness • Develop and provide training on first responder wellness internally and externally • Assist in coordinating peer support responses to critical incidents, or other requests for wellness services • Facilitate and maintain cooperative relationships with regional first responder partners, clinicians, clergy members, or other organizations partnering with the Wellness Program • Record and maintain accurate data on program outreach and provide reports and summaries on data as needed • Provide administrative support to the Wellness Coordinator as needed
