Specifications include, but are not limited to: TCAT Knoxville is seeking qualified contractors to perform seasonal grass cutting maintenance work. The contractor will cut the grass as required weekly from April 1– October 15. Any mowing before or after those dates will be on an as needed basis as determined by the Coordinator of Facilities and Maintenance. TCAT Knoxville reserves the right to move mowing to 10-day rotation or stop mowing during slow growing periods. In the event of inclement weather, services will be performed on the first available business day. All lawn areas will be mowed. Grass should be cut to 3 1/2 inches, and not be mowed when wet. The contractor is responsible for mowing away from the mulched areas, sidewalks, and parking lots as much as possible. Weed eating will be done at the time of mowing, including curbs, sidewalks, stairs, trees, and fences. Sidewalks, stairs, and parking lots should be cleared of grass trimmings with a blower when mowing is completed. Landscape equipment appropriate to the terrain should be used to ensure a manicured look. See attached maps for identification of areas to be mowed. 1.2 Spring Landscaping Bed Maintenance All landscaping beds should be cleaned up in early spring. All dead vegetation should be cleared or cut back if perennials. Remove any weeds and unwanted grass. Herbicide may be used, but the areas treated, and the type of herbicide must be approved by the Coordinator of the Facilities and Maintenance. Shrubbery should be trimmed as needed. After the threat of frost passed, plant annuals in beds near entrance sign off Liberty Street, at the stairs going into Building A, the semi-circle bed in the courtyard by Building A, and in front of Division Street Building on Main Campus and beds at front of and around building at Anderson County Higher Education Center. Flowers should be a mix of red, white, and blue as much as feasible (the college’s colors). Hardwood mulch will be applied to all planting beds and tree wells when the beds are maintained, except where gravel is present.
