Specifications include, but are not limited to: Notice is hereby given that the DeKalb County Commissioners will accept sealed bids for a three (3) year cash rental lease beginning with the 2024 crop year for the Sunny Meadows Farm real estate. According to Farm Service Agency records, there are 237.29 tillable acres, more or less available, but the Commissioners do not warrant this acreage. This does not include a pond area toward the rear of the property which is surrounded by approximately 15.5 acres, and does not include the area occupied for the Community Corrections campus, approximately 9 acres. This acreage is excluded from the lease. Also excluded is approximately 1 acre used for the County Resource Garden on the south end of the compost site. The lease will require soil testing annually at the Renter’s cost through Custer Grain (Total Soil Management Program) or the Andersons (Vertex Program), or a third party performing the same services, but which third party company must be approved in advance by the Commissioners. The Renter must follow the recommendations of the selected program each year. There are outbuildings, including an old bank barn, tramp shed, and storage shed, which may be rented in their current condition, “AS IS.” There is a separate bidding process for those buildings.
