Specifications include, but are not limited to: GPS location capabilities multiple per day with scheduling capabilities Remote 2-way iridium satellite communications and programming: Ability to remotely communicate with collars and change preferences/schedules as needed throughout the year utilizing the Iridium network. Internet-accessible user interface for uploading/viewing/downloading locations. Interface must be capable of loading an unlimited number of collar locations at a single time, be able to visually display an associated animal ID/name in addition to the collar ID and be able to place collars into user-defined groups for viewing with google earth display or equivalent. Interface must include the ability to download locations by users, including .CSV form. VHF beacon and VHF scheduling: 12-hour daily VHF signal, ideally 8:00-20:00 CMT. Sufficient battery life for a minimum of 2 years (expected location schedule of 3 locations per day) 45cm+ or – 15% belt and round shape (Black or brown collar preferred) Mortality indicator switch (after 12-hours of immobility) with email and/or text alert. Optional drop off capability. Collar ID: Every collar supplied will be preprogrammed before delivery to WDNR staff. An external label containing the unique collar serial number and unique frequency must be affixed to each transmitter. Desired frequencies will be provided to manufacturer upon collar order. Metadata for GPS locations: The data entry for each location recorded will contain (at minimum): Collar Serial Number, Date (MM/DD/YYYY), Date (Julian), Time, Latitude (decimal degrees), Longitude (decimal degrees), Horizontal Dilution of Position, Number of Satellites. Warranty: A minimum one (1) year warranty is required for all collars against malfunctions and defects in materials or workmanship, including total failure of GPS technology to send any transmissions of any kind (given that VHF beacon is working), or failure of the advanced or basic activity sensors. Collars that fail during the two-year period (GPS transmissions fail, and, after recovery of collar, no physical external damage can be linked to cause of failure), shall be fixed or replaced free of charge and all postage and handling charges shall be incurred by the vendor. The warranty shall begin upon activation of collars by the Department. Vendor shall bear all material, labor and transportation costs for repair of defects and failures occurring within the warranty period. Collar Repair: We require the collar provider to offer repair service for any collar recovered in the field that has lost VHF, GPS (fix or two-way communication), or advanced or basic activity sensors functionality outside of the warranty.
