Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Dense Soda Ash offered shall be required to meet or exceed all requirements of AWWA Standard Specification No. B201-03 and can be certified as meeting ANSI/NSF 60 standards for drinking water additives. Certification by NSF International or Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. is acceptable for meeting the ANSI/NSF 60 standards. Certification by independent laboratories other than those cited above may be acceptable. Acceptance or rejection of a certification by a laboratory other than those listed is at AWWU's sole discretion. A. Physical Requirements: The Dense Soda Ash supplied shall be a dry, white granular powder containing no large lumps or crystals. It shall be free-flowing and suitable for storage in closed hopper bins and for feeding with a standard dry feeder. The product is to have a minimum of 56 pounds per cubic foot (56 lb./cu ft) density. Supersack chemical must pass a minimum 1-inch (1") screen as per AWWU specifications. All caked or damp chemicals will not be accepted. B. Chemical Requirements: The material, as delivered, shall contain not less than 99 percent (99%) by weight of Sodium Carbonate. "Na2C03," or Sodium Oxide "Na20" equivalent of not less than 57.9 percent (57.9%). The insoluble matter shall not exceed 0.05 percent (0.05%). C. Packaging Requirements: All 2,000-pound supersacks will be a maximum of 4 feet by 4 feet by 4 feet (4' x 4' x 4') in size. The chemicals shall be delivered in new, clean, supersacks with a polyethylene liner. Each bag shall have a bottom spout and draw string, or AWWU approved equal. Clearly label each bag to identify the name of the product and weight. Any ripped, torn, or leaking bags are subject to rejection.
