Specifications include, but are not limited to: • The instrument shall be equipped with a single quadrupole mass spectrometer capable of scanning the mass range 5-250 amu with a minimum resolution capability of 1 amu peak width at 5% peak height. • An Eco mode must be available for the ICP-MS to reduce power and gas usage while maintaining the plasma torch. These options will be able to decrease the Argon gas consumption to 10 L/min to allow hours of continuous operation and the ability to reduce the gas flow to 5 L/min during standby so that an analyst can readily start without interfering with productivity. • The collision cell is a useful tool for eliminating spectral interferences. The instrument shall have a collision cell which will use only Helium gas and not a gas mixture for collision cell mode. • An autosampler shall be included with the system and should be able to handle 14mL samples with 240 sample positions. The ICP-MS instrument controller software will also be used to operate the autosampler. When creating a sampling schedule, the user will only need to create one sampling schedule which will apply to both the ICP-MS and the autosampler. • During maintenance, the parts must be changed without the need for tools. • The ICP-MS system shall have a chiller which use a water circulator and a water level sensor. • The instrument shall have the ability to use Argon gas with a 99.95% purity.
