Specifications include, but are not limited to: Create a therapeutic program to teach inmates skills in the training, rehabilitation and resocialization of at-risk shelter dogs. Program may include but is not limited to: 2.1.1. Provide personnel to train inmates and staff on dog psychology and other important techniques. 2.1.2. Establishing a relationship with a local shelter, nonprofit, or other like organization to provide dogs to participate in the program. 2.1.3. Providing a staff member to evaluate program progress and ensure program benchmarks are being met. 2.1.4. Developing readiness criteria to determine when dogs are ready for adoption or placement in the community and establish adopter prioritization for dogs in the program. 2.1.5. Establishing a placement plan for and coordination of the adoptions of graduating dogs. 2.1.6. Facilitate the transportation of dogs from where they are housed to the prison facility. 2.1.7. Facilitate the transportation of dogs from where they are housed to any needed veterinarian appointments. 2.1.8. Proposing appropriate class size, group size, and cadence of training. 2.1.9. Providing the supplies needed throughout the course of the program. 2.1.10. Ensuring graduating dogs are rehabilitated properly trained and safe for adoption or placement.
