Specifications include, but are not limited to: Section 304 – EARTH SHOULDER CONSTRUCTION 1. The following shall be added to the end of Subsection 304.03, Paragraph 2: “The Contractor shall excavate all areas of drive and street returns, as well as lugs, where new concrete/asphalt is to be placed, to depths indicated on the plans. Contractor shall be responsible for removal of excavated material.” 2. The following shall be added to the end of the first sentence in Subsection 304.03, Paragraph 5a: “prior to any milling expose the full width of existing asphalt surface.” 3. Delete Subsection 304.03, Paragraph 6: in its entirety. 4. The following shall be added as Subsection 304.03, Paragraph 7e: “Contractor shall blend any areas where new asphalt meets existing earth/rock drives or streets, so there is a smooth transition. Contractor shall fill and re-grade the shoulders to the new elevation after the placing of the asphalt overlays.” Section 422 – TEMPORARY TRAFFIC CONTROL SIGNS AND DEVICES 1. Subsection 422.03 paragraph 16: Delete the words “Contractor shall furnish” and add the words “County will provide and contractor shall”. 2. Subsection 422.04 paragraph 3a shall be deleted and replaced with “‘Flagging’ will be measured for payment for all flaggers required for flagging requirements on a daily basis.” 3. Subsection 422.04 paragraph 3b shall be deleted and replaced with “Operations of “Flagging” for 4 hours or less will be considered as onehalf day and operations for more than 4 hours will be considered as one full day.” 4. In Subsection 422.05, Paragraph 1: add a Pay Item “Traffic Control” with a Pay Unit “Lump Sum “ 5. Subsection 422.05, Paragraph 2: shall be deleted in its entirety and replace with the following: “When Traffic Control, Lump Sum is used in the plans or specifications, no specific unit of measurement will apply, but measurement will be for the lump sum total of all items needed for traffic control that are not on the bid form. Contractor shall submit a detailed traffic control plan for any traffic control device layouts that do not conform to the included standard plan sheets. Contractor is required to maintain all signing, pavement marking, barricading and traffic control devices shall conform to the State of Nebraska Supplement to the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, 2011 and the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, current edition.” Section 503 – ASPHALTIC CONCRETE 1. In Subsection 503.05, Paragraph 1a: references to “tons” shall be replaced with “square yards.” 2. In Subsection 503.06, Paragraph 1: Asphaltic Concrete, Type ___ the Pay Unit “Ton (Tn)” shall be replaced with “Square Yard (SY).” Section 504 -- TACK COAT 1. The following shall be added to the end of Subsection 504.03, Paragraph 3a: “The tack coat shall be applied at a temperature between 75 degrees and 130 degrees. Tack coat shall not be applied when the surrounding air temperature is less than 40 degrees Fahrenheit.” 2. In Subsection 504.03, Paragraph 3c: shall be deleted and replaced with the following text: “The rate of application of the 30 percent residual asphalt shall be adequate to bond the new bituminous layer to the existing surface. The asphalt shall be applied at 0.15 gallons per square yard.” 3. The final period shall be changed to a comma and following shall be added at the end of Subsection 504.05, Paragraph 5: “including but not limited to the cleaning and brooming of the surface prior to applying tack coat.” Section 510 -- COLD MILLING 1. The following shall be added to the end of Subsection 510.02, Paragraph 2: “Milled material shall be incorporated into grading of the shoulders. Any surplus material shall become property of the County and shall be loaded into trucks provided by the County.” 2. The following shall be added to the end of Subsection 510.03, Paragraph 2b: “The milling machine will be set to cut a depth of 1”at centerline and will be set to cut at a slope of 2%, or as shown on the plans.” 3. The following shall be added to as Subsection 510.04, Paragraph 11: “All vegetation at the edge of asphalt shall be removed to expose the full width of the existing asphalt surface.”
