Specifications include, but are not limited to: 72nd Avenue, between Highway 217 and Pacific Highway, is a busy arterial that serves as the primary northsouth access for vehicles, transit, bicycles and pedestrians through the Tigard Triangle. 72nd Avenue is currently a two-lane roadway with gaps in sidewalk and bike lanes, as well as a lack of on street parking. The 72nd Avenue Transportation Corridor Study, completed in 2020 conducted an alternatives analysis and identified a preferred alignment to transform the busy arterial into an attractive, multimodal street for all users. The recommendations include new lane configurations, enhanced streetscape, pedestrian and bicycle crossings, and improved functionality for all transportation modes. Improvements to 72nd Avenue will play a central role in achieving the vision for Triangle to become a highly walkable, pedestrian-oriented, mixed-use district. The Project will develop up to a 10% engineered design building off of the preferred alignment from the 72nd Avenue Transportation Corridor Study Report (June 2020). The 10% design will ensure that as development occurs, the cross section, alignment, and right-of-way requirements will be well defined to support the city’s vision for SW 72nd Avenue. The Project will further develop the north section of 72nd Avenue between Pacific Highway and Dartmouth Street to a 30% engineered design. Included in the design considerations is the future Red Rock Creek Trail crossing. There are several other projects in the Project’s vicinity to consider, including the following: Red Rock Creek Trail Alignment Study Project – ODOT is leading the project, planning work began in December 2022 and is expected to be completed in February 2024. Red Rock Creek Stabilization and Enhancement Project – design work began in February 2022 and construction is expected to start in June 2024 and be completed in fall 2025.
