Specifications include, but are not limited to: Rock Imager 1 with Single Combined UV and Visible light path, and B&W camera; 1. Captures images of sitting or hanging, microliter to nanoliter drops that will consist of macromolecules and various reagents. Imager must be compatible with existing trays (VDXm and CrysChem M) currently used for crystallization setups in house. 2. The light used for illuminating the plate, so an image can be taken must be an UV LED bulb since heat has the potential to destroy the crystals that we are trying to grow and image. 3. Has X,Y, Z, and Zoom that are all fully motorized and automated. 4. Has an automatic drop location for the different crystallization tray types. 5. An imager that has automatic focusing that extends throughout the drop in the Z direction so all of the planes of the drop are captured with few crystals going undetected. 6. Bar code scanner for cataloging the trays and images. 7. Software that scores the crystallization drops for potential crystallization formations. 8. Crystallization drop imager has stored information of common commercial screening components that are routinely used in macromolecular crystallization conditions. 9. The imager has been used historically and successfully by other protein and macromolecular crystallographers. Must provide reference information for at least three labs that have purchased imager equipment in the past two years. For reference information, provide organization name, contact name, address/location information, contact number and email address.
