Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1.2 TOLERANCES • Pipe shall be furnished in nominal 18 or 20-foot lengths. • Pipe shall be true circles in section with the inner and outer surfaces concentric. • Pipe furnished shall be truly gauged along the entire length and shall meet the outside diameter standard dimensions and tolerances required for spigot ends, along the entire pipe piece length as specified in AWWA C151, Table 51.4. 1.3 STRENGTH REQUIREMENTS—The ductile iron pipe shall have the following minimum values: • Tensile strength 60,000 psi • Yield strength 42,000 psi • Percent elongation 10% 1.4 LINING • Furnish pipe with a cement-mortar lining in accordance with ANSI A21.4/AWWA C-104-90, or latest version. The thickness of lining shall be double thickness as noted in Section 4-8. The thickness of lining shall not be less than 1/8 inch for 4- through 12-inch pipe; 3/16 inch for 14- through 24-inch pipe; and 1/4 inch for 30-inch pipe. Taper of linings shall be as specified in Section 4-8.3 of AWWA C104-90. • Apply seal coat of asphaltic material to the cement-mortar lining as specified in Section 4-12 of AWWA C104-90. 1.5 COATING • Furnish pipe with an asphaltic coating not less than one (1) mil thick. Ensure that the coating is continuous, smooth, and neither brittle when cold nor sticky when exposed to the sun. Ensure that the coating is adhered to the pipe. 1.6 PUSH-ON JOINT • Joint shall be of a type which employs a single elongated rubber grooved gasket to create the joint seal. • Push-on joint pipe shall be furnished complete with gaskets and joint lubricant. Ensure that the gaskets conform to requirements of AWWA C-111 ANSI A21.11-90 or latest revision.
