Specifications include, but are not limited to: Nonviolent Crisis Intervention® Instructor Certification to be provided by Crisis Prevention Institute, Inc. “Contractor” utilizing Contractor’s copyrighted material. 1. Background: This sole source justification applies to the purchase of: a) The Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS), through its Child Welfare Division, is preparing to purchase Nonviolent Crisis Intervention® Training services from Crisis Prevention Institute, Inc. The training is designed for Agency staff who directly interact with individuals impacted by trauma and Agency staff who encounter dangerous behaviors from those individuals. b) The Agency will secure initial Instructor Certification and subsequent renewal certification for the following courses: o Non-Violent Crisis Intervention with Trauma o Verbal Intervention with Trauma c) The objective of this training: o Agency staff will learn how to recognize and verbally de-escalate potential crisis and to safely use physical interventions. Contractor will provide the Agency with blended training, NCI™ 2nd Edition with Advanced Physical Skills training, NCI™ 2nd Edition with Trauma training, NCI™ 2nd Edition training, and Verbal Intervention training. New Instructors will attend initial certification followed by renewal courses every other year. o The Contractor will assist the agency with implementing a training program with a goal of maintaining the safety and security of Agency staff and the population they serve.
