Specifications include, but are not limited to: Required Elements of Construction (Weise Park): 1. Textured, “non-slip” ramp surface: launch surface shall be concrete, poured, or precast, with a thickness that is resistant to cracking from winter ice heave. End of ramp surface should be inundated even in low water conditions to allow for access during all seasons. Ramp surface gradation should comply with all state and local standards and regulations and allow for safe entry. Ramp to be blended in with current East River walking trail. 3. Large Rip Rap or alternative bank stabilization methods should be used to maintain streambank and launch corridor. Materials used should be resistant to seasonal changes, such as ice heave and spring flooding which are significant in the East River. 4. Place a level concrete pad at the top of the kayak landing near where launch blends with trail. Pad should be sized to accommodate the bike rack and a park bench installation and provide a sufficient staging area for paddlers clear from the main trails flow of foot/bike traffic. Bike rack posts should be spaced to allow 3-5 kayak carts, see below example for clarification. The park bench should be placed adjacent to bike rack and installed as a surface mount. Launch should be designed within spatial parameters and must exist 100% on Village of Allouez property. Provided photo is a suggestion and the design should be created to best fit the landscape. 6. All bare soil that results from this construction project should be planted with a seed mix equivalent to that of the adjacent landscape. Utilize proper germination blankets when necessary. 7. The East River Walking Trail is NOT designed to withstand the weight of large excavation equipment. Take necessary precautions to protect the integrity of the existing pathway.
