Specifications include, but are not limited to: KDOT owns and operates underground facilities along state highway right-of-way and along local roads. KDOT’s priority areas of underground facilities include but not limited to Lawrence, Kansas City, Topeka, Wichita and rural Kansas along I-70, K-61(Hutchinson to McPherson I-135), K-177, US-83, US-54, K-254 and US-81, (See Exhibit A - I). These facilities include but are not limited to fiber optic cable, low voltage communication lines, and electric power cable. The electrical lines may support cameras, dynamic message boards, control cabinets, and high mast lighting (480 volts). KDOT is seeking utility locating services. KDOT underground utilities are registered with the Kansas One Call. The locate services vendor will receive the Kansas One Call tickets on KDOTs behalf and perform the required locates, mark KDOT’s underground infrastructure with paint and flags. The vendor may be asked to locate KDOT utilities on an ad hoc basis also. KDOT is able to provide a KMZ file and pdf plan sheets of fiber and lighting circuits. Kansas One Call: KDOT owned underground facilities incorporated with this bid will be listed with the Kansas One Call System. The Service Provider will receive locate tickets from the Kansas One Call center on KDOT’s behalf and perform the necessary locate functions. Bidding – Service Region(s): A Service Provider may bid one region separately or they may bid multiple regions. As an example, the bidder may only want to bid on the Kansas City region but is allowed to bid on both Kansas City and Topeka. Staffing and Proximity to Bid Region: The Service Provider must have staff assigned near or within the bid region. The work requires a short turnaround time: tickets shall be completed within 2 business days. KDOT will not pay a mobilization charge or a fixed minimum number of hours for service in Topeka, Kansas City and/or Wichita Metropolitan Regions.
