Specifications include, but are not limited to: In accordance with sound engineering practices and acceptable methods of design associated with the ice rink industry in general, the successful operator will plan, operate, produce, direct and provide all services, labor and materials necessary for the ice arena and will work with the City of Nashua to provide a high quality year round ice facility that will allow for skating experiences of all types for the general public. Additionally, it is expected that the proposer will work with Rivier University to develop a usage program so that Rivier University can use the facility as “home” ice arena for the benefit of the University. This is not to diminish the expectation that the City of Nashua would additionally expect a community benefit where the public and especially children of low to moderate incomes the opportunity to be exposed to ice skating activities. Capital Asset Expectations A design and construction of a 2 sheet ice rink facility that would meet the industry standards of the appropriate accrediting agencies. Additionally, seating capacity needs to be of appropriate size to accommodate collegiate level hockey. (Synthetic ice surface is not of interest in this solicitation). Depending on the preferred design selected there may be opportunities to have shared facilities with the Keefe Auditorium (lobby space, bathrooms, concessions and parking area) some of these ideas need to be further developed that is if the community decides to keep the Keefe Auditorium. Alternatively, the capital asset will need to be developed as a standalone entity. Subject to further discussion it is the current thought process that a certain portion of land will be leased for a fixed number of years. (leasehold interests are subject to full taxation)
