Specifications include, but are not limited to: A. The main building for Denmar Correctional Center and Jail was built in the 1930s and an addition was built in the 1950s. There are two (2) existing elevators located in the main building. In June through August 2018, there were repairs done on the existing elevators and the elevator inspections were performed. Both existing elevators failed the inspection and were locked out. The contractor must provide separate pricing to replace each existing elevator. Option A will be to replace the existing one (1) elevator that is in the section that was built in the 1930’s with new. Option B will be to replace the existing one (1) elevator that is in the section that was built in the 1950’s with new. The contractor must design and install the new elevator system. Additional information on the project is listed below. B. Option A, information on the one (1) existing elevator: 1. Existing elevator: a. Serial No. 201566 b. Type: Elevator/Traction c. Make: Otis d. Capacity: 2,000 e. Landings: 5 f. Originally installed: 1938 g. Modified: 1982 2. The existing elevator landings are on the first, second, third, fourth, and fifth floors. The elevator equipment room is located on the roof. 3. The electrical service for the existing elevator is feed from the electrical panel and fused disconnect that is located in the basement. The electrical service goes from the basement to the elevator equipment room that is located on the roof. There is an electrical panel with a 45-amp breaker in the elevator equipment room. The existing elevator operates off 208-volt, 3-phase, and 60-hertz. 4. The existing elevator is connected to the existing fire alarm system. The panel is located in the elevator equipment room. 5. All elevator call buttons on each floor and every button in the elevator cars, was replaced with heavy-duty, vandal-resistant, stainless steel push buttons and contactors whenever the repairs were performed in 2018. C. Option B, information on the one (1) existing elevator: 1. Existing elevator: a. Serial No. C-21575 b. Type: Elevator/Traction c. Make: Dover d. Capacity: 4,000 e. Landings: 6 f. Originally installed: 1966 2. The existing elevator landings are on the basement, first, second, third, fourth, and roof floors. The elevator equipment room is located on the roof. 3. The electric for the Option B elevator is located in room B-03. The elevator is feed from electrical panel EM. The breaker is circuit number ten (no. 10). The existing elevator operates off 208-volt, 3-phase, and 60- hertz. 4. The existing elevator is connected to the existing fire alarm system. The panel is located in the elevator equipment room. 5. All elevator call buttons on each floor and every button in the elevator cars, was replaced with heavy-duty, vandal-resistant, stainless steel push buttons and contactors whenever the repairs were performed in 2018. D. Requirements for new elevator: 1. The contractor must design and install a completely new elevator system. This includes everything that is located in the elevator pit and shaft, elevator car, elevator doors, controls in the elevator equipment room, cables, lifts, etc. unless specified in the specifications or future addendums. 2. The contractor must design the new elevator system to comply with all State of West Virginia codes. 3. If there is anything of the existing elevator system that can be reused, the contractor must specify at the pre-bid meeting and during the questionand-answer period. 4. The contractor must use the existing elevator shaft. 5. The contractor must install a new fused disconnects. 6. The contractor must install new electrical wires from the basement to the elevator equipment rooms. The contractor must size the electrical wires according to the required electrical requirements and the Nation Electric Code. The contractor can use the existing conduit from the basement to the elevator equipment room. 7. The elevator contractor must provide provisions for camera use inside the elevators. 8. The elevator contractor must provide new hoistway and car doors with painted finish. 9. The elevator contractor must provide new door equipment including door operator, clutch, track, hangers, assemblies, spirators, and gibs. 10. The elevator contractor is to provide hall call lockouts at all floors, as well as car call lockouts for all floors.
