Specifications include, but are not limited to: LAWRENCE STREET Layout, testing, operation and removal of 1580 LF of 2” and 2025 LF of 4” temporary water main, including three temporary fire hydrants. Remove 1415 LF of 6” cast iron and 412 LF of 2” black iron water main and replace with 1852 LF of 8” double cement lined ductile iron, zinc coated water pipe, including three new fire hydrants, 32 new 1” copper tubing, 1 new 2” copper tubing & 2 re-tapped 1” copper tubing domestic services. ADDITIVE ALTERNATE 1 - PEMBROKE ROAD Layout, testing, operation and removal of 900 LF of 4” temporary water main, including one temporary fire hydrant. Install 440 LF of 12” double cement lined ductile iron, zinc coated water pipe. The existing 8” CLCI water main into, and west of, Industrial Park Drive is to remain in service upon project completion. A future replacement project will retire this segment. Maintenance of Traffic - The Contractor shall at all times obey and perform all applicable safety laws, regulations and ordinances that apply during the performance of the project. The contractor shall furnish, erect and maintain all temporary construction signs, cones, etc. necessary for the completion of the construction activities. Operation signs and warning devices shall be provided in sufficient type, quantity and placement configuration to meet the standards of the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices, latest edition. The Contractor is advised that the water main trenches will be restored in different manners; a. Lawrence Street will be restored as full depth crushed gravel at 1.83 VF (1.5 VF road box/.33 VF as substitute pavement course). The City’s roadway paving contractor will be performing full depth reclamation/pavement restoration upon completion of the water system replacement. The crushed gravel shall be graded smooth to vehicular traffic and calcium chloride (subsidiary to 619.1) wet-in to mitigate dust and maintenance. Prior to de-mobilization, the trenches shall be regraded & retreated (if necessary) to the satisfaction of the City representative. b. Pembroke Road will be restored as temporary trench patch. The City’s roadway paving contractor will be performing full depth pavement reclamation/pavement restoration upon completion of the water system replacement. c. Industrial Park Drive will be restored as permanent pavement trench patch. The Contractor shall provide pedestrian and vehicular traffic to all private property in affected areas; the Contractor’s activities shall not shut down or close any business; the Contractor may be required to supply and post temporary business access signs; the Contractor shall meet with merchants affected to promote good public relations. The contractor will supply to the CITY representative a detailed drawing of all proposed traffic control plan (TCP). The drawings will show, at least, number and location of Flaggers, location and text of all signs and designated work area. This TCP shall be submitted 2 weeks in advance and work will not commence until all traffic controls are in place.
