Specifications include, but are not limited to: • Snow and Ice removal from driveways and parking areas. • Salt Treatment – driveways and parking areas. Successful vendor will be required to coordinate all scheduled work with the KCTCS Director of Maintenance & Operation Services. a) The bidder will clear snow accumulations from lots, drives, streets, sidewalks, dock areas, after snow accumulation. Lots shall be plowed during working hours as deemed necessary, then re-plowed after working hours in order to prepare for regular business operations at 6:00am the immediate next business day. Work hours are defined as 6:00am – 6:00pm EST. Salt to be applied on parking areas after plowing – or any time icy conditions exist. b) Bidder will apply chemicals as needed to all sidewalks and other areas of the premises. Sidewalks shall be shoveled after it is determined salt and chemical applications are unsuitable and/or snow accumulation has reached 1 inch. c) The bidder will chemically treat snow accumulations of less than 1”. Only one application per day will be invoiced, unless previously agreed upon by KCTCS. i. KCTCS reserves the right to request additional chemical treatment as needed. d) Daytime snowfall during business hours will be plowed and chemically treated as necessary. Invoicing will only be accepted when prepared on the 24-hour calendar day basis for accumulation. e) The bidder will not be responsible for treating the area where there is a parked vehicle. Bidder shall make reasonable efforts to clear parking areas between and around parked vehicles, with special attention to the KCTCS Fleet vehicles. f) Snow accumulation reports must be provided within 24 hours of the completion of clearing the accumulation in which they are reporting. Snow accumulation shall be based on snowfall accumulation report from https://www.ncdc.noaa.gov Climatological Data National Weather Service Lexington, KY. g) Bidders will not be required to treat the redlined areas of the attached PLAN A- Monday – Thursday regular work week map. h) The bidder will be required to clean the areas of the back-parking lot as follows: • 16 parking spots vertically from the back-entrance driveway x 13 parking spots horizontally across • Total 208 parking spots - Please see the attached maps for highlighted work areas per Map Plan. i) During Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and on days of KCTCS Institutional Closings, the bidder will be responsible only for cleaning the front parking lot, drive, sidewalk, and loading dock area (Circled in Yellow on the attached KCTCS System Office Map Plan B). On Fridays when meetings are being held at the System Office additional parking will be needed. On these occasions the bidder will be notified to use maps marked plan C or plan D depending on the size of the meeting. The bidder will be notified by one of the following KCTCS staff. All lots and drives must be fully plowed/cleaned and prepared for regular business operations by 6:00am EST immediately on the following business day. 1.1. During the weekend or Institutional Close, Bidder will invoice KCTCS for total accumulation of snowfall for the rest of the snow-covered areas in preparation for regular operations the immediate next business day. For Example, during a weekend (Saturday – Sunday) snow accumulated 3 inches total for both days. Bidder will invoice KCTCS at the 1-4” snow fall rate for preparation of regular business Monday. j) Upon KCTCS Emergency Closings, the successful bidder will be required to clear/plow in the same manner as detailed regular work week. KCTCS Emergency Closings occur upon notice from the Governor and/or the KCTCS Board of Directors/President’s Office during emergency weather conditions.
