Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Bureau of Forestry, requires the services of a contractor to apply herbicide by machine-only for the removal of competing vegetation to an estimated total of 545 acres in Forest Districts 15 and 16 in Potter and Tioga counties on 6 scattered (extra steep) spray blocks. Projects: 152328, 152350, 162301, 162307, 162317 and 162318. The herbicide is necessary to control competing vegetation consisting primarily of beech, birch, fern and striped maple. This contract involves steep, difficult terrain and may have slash and other difficulties. The treatment areas can consist of uncut steep forest stands, stands that have recently received shelterwood cuts and some areas with a large amount of mortality. More specific information about each herbicide spray block is found in Attachment A. The contractor’s per acre price must include the cost of herbicide, herbicide adjuvants, labor, insurance, superintendence, tools, equipment, all miscellaneous expenses, and any other items necessary for completion of the tasks. The contractor must calculate a per acre bid price that includes the cost for all chemicals required to meet the following requirements: 1. The complete coverage of the treatment area, including double application (overspray between passes) where necessary to avoid gaps and misses, and 2. The capability of reaching the required height of 15 feet on all spray blocks.
