Please note: This is a Sole Source Notification. Utah Health Policy Project will (a) train community health workers and medical office administrative staff regarding Medicaid and additional assistance available to individuals and families in need of healthcare coverage; (b) expand their operating hours; and (c) host pop-up outreach events in high traffic areas in the community to provide information regarding Medicaid status and review dates. This work primarily aims to reduce procedural terminations from Medicaid as a result of the Medicaid unwinding process following the end of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency (PHE). During the PHE, CMS instructed states to keep all individuals on Medicaid until the end of the PHE at which time an unwinding process would occur. The unwinding process began in April 2023. As part of this process, the status of each person on Medicaid is reviewed to determine if they are still eligible. This review requires individuals or their parent/legal guardian to submit required paperwork. If the paperwork is not returned, the result is a procedural termination in which they lose their Medicaid coverage.
