Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Board invites qualified firms to submit a proposal to provide various types of technology for its fixed route bus system. Metro plans to purchase and install several interfacing types of technology. Proposers shall have sufficient experience and qualifications to provide goods and services in accordance with the specifications contained in this Request for Proposals. The technology proposed must be reliable, easily maintained, of excellent quality, and easy to learn and use. Vendors will include in their proposals all equipment, installation and training needed to complete the project. Metro plans to install new equipment and upgrade existing equipment for its fixed route bus system. There are currently 26 buses in the fixed route system. The required elements apply to all 26 fixed route buses. Metro will be adding and removing buses from the fixed route fleet in the future and the technology will need to be added to any buses added to the fleet. The successful contractor will install items selected by Metro from the following list: • AVL/CAD – automated vehicle location and computer aided dispatch • Provide a customer facing app for bus location, arrival time, and trip planning services • Provide passenger customer service support • APC – automated passenger counters • DMS – real-time dynamic message signs – integration with existing signs and/or replacement signs. Metro currently has various types of equipment on some or all of the buses. Vendors may: 1) integrate current equipment into the new system; 2) upgrade current equipment to work in the new system; 3) replace current equipment; or, 4) a combination of some or all of the above.
