Specifications include, but are not limited to: Tree removals as identified on these specifications and maps. Removals – to include all trees specifically tagged for removal by Douglas County. County reserves the right to reduce the number of trees to be removed to coincide with available funding. Contractor will commence the removal work, as negotiated by the County with the Contractor, following the notice to proceed and complete the removal work no later than the date negotiated by the County with the Contractor. ● All Ash trees marked with ORANGE tape on the east side of the property along the fence line are designated for removal. ● Vehicles and other equipment to be used by the Contractor are to be operated within County-defined limits on the property, as coordinated by the County’s Environmental Services Department. Environmental services will put up fencing to designate the area. ● A staging area will be field-defined with the Contractor. Once the staging area is defined the contractor will need to collaborate with Environmental Service so other departments within the county can be notified that will be impacted by the project. ● To minimize soil compaction and negative impact on the landscape, the contractor is requested, to the extent possible, to operate smaller equipment on landscape areas and leave the larger and heavier equipment parked on the paved areas. Contractor will need to propose what equipment will be used. If larger equipment, such as a bucket truck or crane, is needed on landscape areas that equipment must remain within the designated County-defined area. Some limbs and branches hang over private property fences so the contractor will need to determine with Environmental Services how those will be handled. ● Environmental Services wants to do a Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) assessment of the ash trees being removed and will need to look at the canopy branches of each tree. One branch of at least 2 inches in diameter from the upper canopy of (i.e. top of the tree) each tree will need to be obtained for assessment. ● Grind out the stumps a minimum of 8” below grade, remove stump grindings, and fill with clean backfill to match the existing grade. ● Remove and dispose of all debris, If debris is taken to a landfill it must be taken to the Douglas County Pheasant Point Landfill. Contractor to identify where the debris will be taken. ● Repair all areas disturbed during this work.
