Specifications include, but are not limited to: Owensboro Municipal Utilities, a municipal power distributor, is requesting bids for the labor and equipment to change out twelve (12) transmission-class tangent poles and one (1) three-pole structure (to be replaced with a two-pole structure) ranging from 80ft to 90ft in length. This is NOT a reconductor job. All existing transmission class poles to be replaced are wood; all new transmission class poles will be steel and provided by OMU along with all other necessary materials. These poles support a variation of one or two 69kV transmission line(s) and one 15kV distribution under-build line. There is also numerous telecommunication attachments on several of the poles. All 69kV lines will be deenergized throughout the project; however, portions of the 15kV distribution under-build line(s) will have to remain energized resulting in several of the pole replacements being considered 15kV HOT work. In addition, there are three (3) distribution poles included as part of this bid’s scope of work. These represent intermediate poles located along one of the two routes of transmission poles to be replaced. All existing distribution class poles to be replaced are wood and will remain wood once replaced. Contractor will be responsible for changing out the lower 4-hole bracket on Cantilever Arm Assembly, “Braced Post Insulator Assembly”, with a supplied 2-hole bracket. This will include removing two (3/4” or larger) bolts and installing a new 2-hole bracket with same two bolts. This will need to be completed to successfully mount assembly. A total of 42 brackets to be replaced. This work will be discussed in greater detail during the pre-bid meeting.
