Specifications include, but are not limited to: CONTRACTOR, working in cooperation with a Utah Geological Survey (UGS) Geologic Mapping Program, will complete a detailed geologic map of the Beaver 30’x60’ quadrangle, Utah, with work at 1:100,000-scale detail and accuracy. In this contract, UGS refers to the Utah Geological Survey, a division of the Utah State Department of Natural Resources. Contractor will assist completing a geologic map and supporting explanatory materials of the Beaver 30’x60’ quadrangle in southwest Utah, with work at 1:100,000-scale detail and accuracy. Contractor will map in the field on aerial photographs and topographic maps: contacts and strike and dip of strata; structural features; economic geology sites such as mines, prospects, quarries, adits, shafts, veins, and dikes; and other geologic map information. Contractor will edge-match contacts, faults, and map units with adjacent 30’x60’ quadrangles geologic maps. Contractor will prepare a written report withannotated strip maps of all four sides of the map explaining changes needed tobe done later to adjoining maps. Contractor will supply field mapping to a GIS specialist to the UGS who will compile themap into the UGS geologic map schema GIS database compatible with UGS geologicmap standards. Explanatory materials to be submitted to the UGS with the map will include but are not limited to: (1) a detailed description of all map units, (2) a correlation diagram showing age relationships of all map units, (3) a lithologic column showing map units in graphical form, and (4) a key to map symbols. Contractor is encouraged to prepare other supporting figures as needed to interpret and explain the geology. Explanatory diagrams can be hand-drawn and labeled or may be prepared digitally and submitted as computer files in a common graphics software language. Contractor agrees to assist the UGS review of the map and explanatory geology andreturn the maps to the UGS with requested changes and revisions within one month. Contractor will submit final reviewed and revised materials by May 30, 2024. The contractor will address all review comments. All motels, camping fees, meals, travel, and other related field expenses are the responsibility of the contractor and are included in the contract amount. UGS will separately fund laboratory analyses of rock, mineral, or pollen samples to the extend that UGS funds are available.
