Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City of Olathe, KS is committed to reducing or eliminating traffic crashes and/or fatalities within its boundaries. Creating a Safety Action Plan, under the U.S. Federal Highway Administration Safe Streets for All (SS4A) action plan grant, will strengthen our safety culture. Through expanded collaboration with City leadership, stakeholders and multiple community members, as well as guidance from FHWA’s Safe System approach and SS4A Action Plan Components, the City will develop a SS4A Comprehensive Action Plan that will be incorporated into the existing and new infrastructure throughout the city. The consultant must be qualified in roadway design and data collection to complete the deliverables for the final action plan. This project will include data gathering and analysis of the safety of Olathe’s roadways for multimodal transportation alternatives and develop a holistic, well-defined strategy to prevent roadway fatalities and serious injuries int eh City of Olathe. Analysis of the sidewalk & trails systems, as well as ADA compliance on existing and proposed infrastructure shall be a focus as well. Included in the scope will be a focus on equity and disadvantaged users by improving walking and biking access for individuals.
