Specifications include, but are not limited to: The intent of the equipment is to provide portable/hand-held in-field identification of unknown potentially hazardous substances for the Doña Ana County Fire & Rescue Department’s Hazardous Materials Team. The selected equipment must have all of the following capabilities: Portable/hand-held (must be able to be carried and used while using nitrile gloves and structural firefighting gloves), measuring no more than 12” in any dimension, and weighing no more than 10 lbs. overall (including batteries) Battery operated Ability to test both solid and liquid samples/materials Raman spectroscopy AND Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy in same unit/device Display screen that provides direction and results to user (in English) Ability to export in text file and JPEG Must be able to be cleaned/decontaminated using standard hazardous materials team equipment Minimum of 1-year warranty on all parts Minimum of 1-year of updates and support On-site training (Las Cruces, NM) for up to 12 students
