The County has been self-insured for Workers’ Compensation and Third-Party Liability programs for over 30 years. Third-Party Liability claims include general liability, automotive liability and physical damage including subrogation, public officials’ liability and employment practices claims. Excess loss insurance is maintained for workers’ compensation with Midwest Employers Casualty with the limit of $1,000,000 for all employees. 1.1.4 The Third Party Administrator is required by the County to provide medical treatment to workers, payment of wage replacement benefits, timely payment of medical bills, and reporting claim information and filings to the Division of Workers Compensation, since the County is self-insured and does not handle claim processing of workers’ compensation in house and without continuation of services the state can and will impose a penalty for certain current, outstanding and future claims the County retains.
