Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City of Independence, Kansas, is requesting bids for chemicals to be used at the Independence Water Treatment Plant for the calendar year 2024. Each supplier may bid on one or more chemicals as they so desire and bids will be awarded on each chemical separately. The Plant has an offset loading dock, which is approached from a residential street. Long trailers don’t work well and the City Staff will not be responsible for offloading the truck for safety reasons. The driver is responsible for having the proper equipment to place the order in its storage area. (One Ton Chlorine Cylinders are the only exception); Quicklime: Quicklime shall be pebbles sized from 5/8", dust free and delivered in 24 to 28 ton bulk trucks to be unloaded pneumatically into the plant's storage bins. Minimum specification shall be AWWA B202-93 or the latest revision thereof. Anticipated usage is 200 tons. Chlorine: Chlorine shall be delivered in one (1) ton containers on an open top trailer to accommodate an overhead crane. Minimum specifications shall be AWWA B301-92 or the latest revision thereof. Anticipated usage is 15 tons. Muriatic Acid: Liquid Muriatic Acid shall be delivered in 140 pound returnable doldrums of 20 degree regular acid. Anticipated usage is 3,500 pounds. Potassium Permanganate: Potassium Permanganate shall be granular, technical grade delivered in 330 pound drums. Minimum specifications shall be AWWA B603-88 or the latest revision thereof. Anticipated usage is 22,000 pounds. Powdered Activated Carbon: Powdered activated carbon shall be delivered in fifty (50) pound bags. Minimum specifications shall be AWWA B600-90 or the latest revision thereof. Anticipated usage is 10,000 pounds. Liquid Ammonium Sulfate: Liquid Ammonium Sulfate shall be delivered in the liquid form and transferred into the plants storage tanks. (Pumped or gravity fed) Minimum specifications shall be AWWA B302-90 or the latest revision thereof. Anticipated usage is 129,360 pounds (Max. deliveries 1500 gal.)
