Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Maricopa County Department of Public Health (MCDPH) is seeking a smartphone and tablet-based platform to be used for video directly observed therapy (VDOT) and video directly observed preventive therapy (VDOPT). The treatment for active TB disease is lengthy and requires at least six months of antibiotic treatment. Antibiotic resistance and other factors may extend the treatment duration up to 24 months. The treatment for latent TB infection requires three to nine months of antibiotic treatment. The standard of care for all active TB cases and high-risk patients with latent TB infection is to perform directly observed therapy (DOT) and directly observed preventive therapy (DOPT), respectively. DOT and DOPT require a healthcare worker to travel to a patient's home and observe the patient taking the medication.
