Specifications include, but are not limited to: The BLM West Desert District will conduct a vegetation management project to improve or maintain habitat, promote ecosystem resiliency, minimize invasive species, and reduce wildland fire risk. The project area includes one large, connected amorphous polygon within a pinyon-juniper woodland. The proposed project activities include ground disturbance and the use of heavy machinery with the ability to impact cultural resources. As such, a Class III survey to identify and evaluate cultural resources and historic properties is requested in accordance with the state and federal cultural resource laws. Treatments may occur on cultural resources where project effects would not alter the characteristics which may make them eligible to the National Register. The survey, reporting, and SHPO consultation will be completed under federal and state cultural resource regulations and standards.
