Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. A visual inspection shall be made of the complete aerial device and other areas which may affect unit safety, stability, and performance. 2. Check for proper operation such as hand chain wheels, chain attachments, clevises, yokes, suspension bolts, shafts, gears, bearings, pins, rollers locking and clamping devices for evidence of wear, corrosion, cracks and/or distortion 3. Hoist braking system for proper operation; 4. Check for worn, glazed or/oil contaminated friction discs, worn pawls, cams, or ratchet 5. Check for corrected, stretched or broken pawl springs in brake mechanism 6. Check connections of load chain or wire ropes for evidence of wear, corrosion, cracks, damage, and distortion 7. Check labels on pendant control stations on electric and air powered hoist for legibility 8. Check oil levels and lubrication 9. Check hoist and hoist mounting for evidence of missing items 10. Inspect chain/ rope in accordance with Section 16-2.5.1, 16-2.4.1, and 16-2.6.2 of ASME B30.16B,1995
