Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. Respondents should provide information describing their lifeguard training and certification program including the following information: a. Required pre-requisites (if any) b. Course Description o Include all course topics and their brief descriptions c. Skill Objectives / Methodology d. Course teaching methodology and duration / Timing e. Requirements to pass courses f. Access to or presence of Medical Staff / Director(s) g. Certification delivery method 2. Respondents should provide information showcasing how their lifeguard training and certification program meets the following City of Peoria preferences: a. Certifications will be issued immediately upon completion of the certification course with no further approval needed. b. A database (accessible to all certified personnel) is provided to print certifications, track expiration dates on the certifications, track and document on-going in-service training and house external audit results. c. The ability for the City of Peoria to maintain all certification recordsfor lifeguard classes. d. An experiential learning methodology should be used to allow students to develop knowledge and skills from direct experiences outside of traditional lecture stylings. e. Separate protocolsshould be provided for the following o Cardiac Emergency Response and Support o Drowning Emergency Response and Support − Water breathing should be a critical component to all drowning emergencies f. All trainings are to be conducted onsite in City of Peoria facilities. g. The National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians’ Spinal Motion Restriction / Immobilization Protocols (September 2016) should be included. h. Practicing Emergency Medical Personnel on staff, who are experts in the field of aquatics, should advise and ensure that the program leads the industry in research, safety, and protocol. i.
