Specifications include, but are not limited to: Ground maintenance for the lawn, and shrub and planter beds shall include, but not be limited to, the following. A. The lawn shall be maintained at 2½ inches to 4 inches in length. Mow all lawn areas at least once every seven (7) days. City may require contractor to mow more frequently during the peak growing season. Mowing every four (4) days may be required if Contractor's equipment is unable to handle long grass. Mulching mowing will be allowed if no grass clippings are left visible. If grass clippings are visible, which they usually are, then Contractor must bag and remove the grass clippings after each mowing. B. When required by City, Contractor shall remove grass clippings from mowed areas, sidewalks and roadways after each mowing. Contractor shall disposes of lawn clippings in an environmentally supportive way, which is approved by City. If using a landfill, Contractor shall deposit all lawn clippings and debris in the designated green waste area of a City approved landfill. Landfill disposal costs shall be the responsibility of Contractor. C. Trim grass around trees, fence posts, under chain link fences and along buildings, processing tanks, planter beds, concrete walks and curbs, and other obstacles on a weekly basis. The grass shall be maintained at 2½ inches to 4 inches in length. Areas trimmed using a string trimmer shall not be trimmed closer than 1 inch from the ground. Perform general cleanup of landscape areas after each mowing. D. Edge turf along all planter beds and all concrete walks around all the various structures on the properties, beginning with spring cleanup and then once a month during the growing season. Edging shall be done using a blade-type edging machine. Blade edger may need to be used in other areas if string trimmer cannot maintain good control. E. Apply one application of Trimec herbicide (or approved equal) at the appropriate time during the spring season and again at the fall season. Apply one application of Turflon "D" herbicide (or approved equal) at an appropriate time during the middle of the growing season. All herbicides shall be approved by City before Contractor applies. F. Inform City of any ground maintenance problems and provide input to City regarding future landscape work needed to simplify maintenance work. G. Maintain flower and shrub bed areas to control weeds. Contractor may manually remove weeds or may control growth with a City-approved chemical.
