Specifications include, but are not limited to: The University is in the process of upgrading its telecommunications infrastructure and as part of this initiative, is seeking a qualified service provider to efficiently and responsibly handle the removal and recycling and repurposing of a Lucent 5ESS Central Office Switch and associated components, in a manner that returns the maximum value to the University. 2.1. The University’s 5ESS Phone Switch is in the basement of the Computer Center at 1077 N. Highland Ave, Tucson, AZ 85721. The Computer Center building has an elevator capable of carrying the 5ESS components from the basement to ground level where a loading dock is present. Note that there is no storage capability at the loading dock, same-day removal of the materials will be required. 2.2. Protection of walls, flooring, doors, and other building features shall be provided. 2.3. The basement of the Computer Center houses other active network equipment that must remain operational for the duration of the project. Dust/debris mitigation shall be provided to protect other active infrastructure present in the Computer Center. 2.4. The 5ESS Phone Switch is located in a restricted access area, and a University escort will be provided. 2.5. Removal of the 5ESS from the premises shall include the removal of all 48V DC power feeds to the system, back to the main 48V DC power plant which is to remain. Any work performed on the 48V DC power system shall be performed by licensed electricians. 2.6. Removal of AC electrical power feeds will be provided by University and is not in scope. 2.7. Removal of cross connect cabling and other twisted pair telecommunications cabling connections will be performed by University and is not in scope. 2.8. The 5ESS system consists of 7 rows of 43 cabinets, with the components itemized in Attachment A.
