Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. The Contractors will furnish all needed materials, labor, and equipment to tap the City water main without having to shut down the water main and install a complete service line and meter setter at each address, as shown on the work order issued. The installation will conform to Engineering Standard Water Service Detail WL-102, which is attached (disregard the Air Release Assembly, the Typical 2” Meter Setting and the 2” Service Outlet Assembly). The location of the meter is subject to an agreement between the owner, Contractor, and the Department. All materials supplied and installed by the contractors shall comply with the specifications in this document. Taps will be made using saddles. Service lines that are not immediately connected will be sealed using one of these (a cap, a plug, electrical or duct tape). 2. The Contractor will record, in accordance with Department instructions, tap and meter setter location, materials used and provide all other information required on the Work Order form. A copy of the Work Order form is included in the specification. 3. The Contractors will guarantee all work done to be free of defects for a period of up two years after completion. If the Department discovers a leak, a dry set (no water), or settling of the meter box, the pipe trench, and any excavation done on the property, any defect(s) or unsafe condition during the warranty period; the Department Staff will notify the Contractor by phone or email. The Contractor has 72 hours (three calendar days) from notification to remedy the problem. If the Contractor fails to address the issue within 72 hours of notification, the Department will proceed with the repairs and the Contractor will be billed, for the repair costs incurred. The repair costs incurred shall be deducted from the Contractor’s invoice. 4. Prior to any excavation, the Contractor will call for the location of all underground utilities using the KS One Call system. The Contractor will be responsible for the repair of any damage caused to any underground utilities. If the Contractor damages an underground utility, the Contractor will notify the owner of that utility and will follow instructions given by the owner of the utility. The Contractor will bear all repair and restoration costs incurred for repairs to the damaged utilities. 5. The Contractor will not operate any valves on the Water Distribution system without approval by authorized representatives of the City.
