Specifications include, but are not limited to: Advocacy 2.1.1 Advocate for funding in local, state, and federal budgets, through direct appropriations, grants, funding requests, or other appropriate means. 2.1.2 Review and notify staff of relevant and significant local, state and/or federal grants. 2.1.3 Maintain working relationships with the Duval County elected officials’ delegation in support of local and state grants. 2.1.4 Coordinate with State Legislative sponsors to secure legislative and executive approval of the Local Support Grant during the current and future Legislative Sessions. Strategy 2.2.1 Assist the JHA in the development of relationships and landscape of the local and state legislature, influencers, policies, and future issues of interest related to our mission. 2.2.2 Propose a strategic advocacy and political engagement plan designed to achieve legislative goals and support grantee priorities. 2.2.3 Develop a plan for off-session activities and coordinate with JHA staff. 2.2.4 Formulate with JHA staff, convenings with grantees and partners on advocacy capacity for grantees. 2.2.5 Communicate the goals, aspirations, and work of JHA to key influencers in the legislative policymaking space. Tracking and Reporting 2.3.1 Identify, track, and report on local and state legislation and legislative proposals that may have an impact on the JHA and on issues related to the JHA guiding principles. 2.3.2 Provide monthly written briefing reports on activities. 2.3.3 Provide briefings in person and periodically as requested. 2.3.4 A final written report and in-person presentation at the end of each legislative session for the JHA staff and Board of Commissioners. 2.3.5 Track priorities and meeting with JHA Staff. 2.3.6 Organize state lobby registration, compliance, and reporting. Relationship Building 2.4.1 Create a robust plan of introductory meetings with key legislators, regulatory agencies, local governments, and related policy organizations that are consistent with the mission and scope of work of the JHA. 2.4.2 Develop strong connections with other institutions, agencies, local and state membership organizations to support the goals of the JHA and its affiliates. 2.4.3 Assist in positioning the JHA in the legislative ecosystem as an authentic advocate on matters related to housing.
