Specifications include, but are not limited to: Casters and Base: All chairs proposed must have a 5-point base and have the option for casters for carpet, hard floor surfaces or dual casters. Seat: The chairs proposed seat will have proper support and comfort for long periods of sitting and heavy computer use. Seat must have a seat sliding depth mechanism (or other technology to allow multiple sized individuals to use the chair). This should allow for the seat to be adjusted to the correct depth to fit various height/size individuals properly. Control should be easy to use and reach. The control should be easily adjustable from a seated position with a natural motion. Approximate minimum seat dimensions: Width, not less than 18", height 15 - 20", depth 17 - 21" ISU is also interested in big & tall options with a longer seat depth of 22" or greater and seat width of 22" or greater if an option. Back: The back should conform to the contour of an individuals' spine and give support to alleviate stress on back muscles. The back of the chair should have adequate lumbar support (fixed or adjustable) or the back should be height adjustable if lumbar is incorporated into the frame of the back. Back height should be high enough to reach the shoulder blades and wide enough (approx. 16") to support the waist breadth. It is preferred that any chairs with mesh backs be attached in a firm frame or other method that hold the mesh firmly in its place. Note, pillow case style pulled over a frame is not desired. If the chair has a tilt tension adjustment for the back, it should be easy to reach and adjust from a seated position. Arms: All proposed chairs should be available in a variety of arm options, such as no arms, fixed arms, height adjustable, height and width adjustable and/or pivot top. When providing pricing for the chair being proposed please price out the arm type that has the most variety/adjustments. Arms should be attached to the seat versus being attached to the back to allow arms/support to stay level when typing and when individual tilts backwards. Seat Height: All proposed chairs must have a pneumatic height adjustment. Contractor should indicate if there is an optional cylinder for increased or lower height adjustment. Chair mechanism/range of motion: Proposed chair should allow a rearward tilt of the back - minimum 10 degrees rearward or 2:1 tilt ratio. Chair should create an open up angle for ergonomic recline, maximize the back to seat ratio. Proposed chair must be synchro-tilt, advanced synchro-tilt, natural glide, individual power, or intuitive. Asynchronous and knee-tilt are not acceptable.
