In early 2022, we adopted a digital accessibility policy set to become fully active July 1, 2026. Our campus is a large, decentralized, public, land-grant university. Since we are a small team (two dedicated staff positions with a third we are trying to backfill) with a large campus, we are experiencing inconsistency of vision, awareness, and expectations. Our main need is to centralize digital accessibility program management through policy alignment, training, and tracking progress over time, in addition to remediation efforts. In order to do this work, we need consultation and tools to conduct a large-scale audit of internal digital assets across campus. With data gathered during this audit, we can then empower departments with tools and resources to include digital accessibility efforts into their future budgets to become compliant in accordance to our digital accessibility policy. Collaboration across departments is critical.
