Specifications include, but are not limited to: hire a consultant to design an evaluation process to assess, document, and track accessibility for the infrastructure and built environment of the recreational system, with the focus on Whitewater State Park.; The assessment will accurately identify accessible amenities as well as any barriers to people with disabilities within the system, in accordance with the Department of Justice 2010 Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. Due to the variation of amenities within State Parks, the three guidelines to follow are the 2020 Minnesota Accessibility Code (buildings), the Architectural Barriers Act Proposed Accessibility Guidelines for Outdoor Developed Areas (Trails, outdoor recreation access routes, beach access routes, and picnic and camping facilities), and the 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design (Recreational boating facilities, fishing piers and platforms, golf facilities, play areas, and shooting facilities).
