Specifications include, but are not limited to: 4.1. The foliar spot herbicide application will be implemented on thirty-four (34) acres of saltcedar regrowth in Arizona Commission owned lands within the Robbins Butte Wildlife Area in Buckeye, Arizona; 4.2. The application area is located directly adjacent to the SR85 bridge over the Gila River. The project area is located within the Gila River floodplain (see Exhibit II page 40); 4.3. All needed permits have been acquired; 4.3.1. An Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Clean Water Act (CWA) Section 404 permit is not needed as this area is designated as agricultural land and is outside of the main channel; 4.4. Thirty-four (34) total acres will have the foliar herbicide applied; 4.4.1. Approximately four (4) acres are high density regrowth between 1-3 feet tall; 4.4.2. Approximately thirty (30) acres are low density regrowth between 1-5 feet tall 4.5. The foliar herbicide application should be a low volume application (3-5% active ingredient) of imazapyr or triclopyr (products such as Garlon 3a, Garlon 4, Alligare, etc.), mixed with a nonionic surfactant and blue dye; 4.6. The awarded supplier will provide the foliar herbicide; 4.7. A utility task vehicle (UTV) may be needed to reach some areas of the project. 4.8. Salt cedar regrowth will be the only vegetation requiring the foliar herbicide application. Native vegetation present on site will be avoided where possible; (https://www.invasivespeciesinfo.gov/terrestrial/plants/saltcedar); 4.8.1. It is recommended that all parts of the salt cedar are applied with the foliar herbicide, however, not enough to where dripping occurs; 4.8.2. The foliar herbicide application can be scheduled with the program contact to ensure AZGFD personnel are onsite during the application to assist with plant identification; 4.9. Contractors will be required to enter one total price for herbicide application for this 34 acre project; 4.10. Contractors wishing to be considered for additional future potential herbicide application projects should also enter a separate price per acre. 4.11. The awarded contractor will schedule the start of the foliar herbicide application project with the program contact (see page 3 above) within two business days of the notification of award.
