Specifications include, but are not limited to: MPS aims to uphold its Promise of ensuring all students are college, career, and community ready upon graduation by developing students with the essential skills and attitudes outlined by the MPS Portrait of a Graduate. To achieve these goals, students must develop a strong foundation in scientific literacy skills supported by curriculum and resources. The program must have an instructional approach and resources that are appropriate for Arizona Science Standards (AzSS) and be aligned to A Framework for K-12 Science Education (Framework is 3-dimensional science instruction: Science and Engineering Practices, Crosscutting Concepts and Core Ideas). Mesa Public Schools is seeking a 9-12 Physical Science program(s) (Physical Science SC22 and Physical Science SC23) which include: • A research-based program that incorporates A Framework for K-12 Science Education (2018) and is aligned to the Arizona Science Standards (AzSS). • Explicit guidance for students to actively engage in the exploration of real-world phenomena. • Resource(s) that provide the opportunity for interdisciplinary integration and personalization (especially for reading and writing). • Ensure that science and engineering practices, crosscutting concepts, and core ideas are interwoven into the curriculum as outlined in the AzSS. • Opportunities for students to engage in sense-making through phenomena-based, hands-on investigations. • Opportunities for students to engage in academic discourse. • Opportunities to build student agency through the use of driving questions. • Integrated technology that includes teacher resources and/or interactive. videos/tools that engage students in the grade-level standards, when applicable.
