Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Contractor shall supply all labor, equipment, supervision, transportation, supplies, lodging/ camping arrangements, and incidentals to perform all work as set forth in these specifications. The contract is designed to meet the specific needs of the landowner, the State of Utah, Department of Natural Resources, Division of Forestry, Fire, and State Lands (FFSL) and Summit County. The Contractor must supply: For tree cutting: Chainsaw crew of at least 8 members. All necessary equipment for chainsaw maintenance, and proper personnel protective equipment (PPE). 4-wheel drive vehicles and all equipment with abilities to access the project site. Only areas delineated on the Project Map will be treated. FFSL project manager will clearly identify unit boundaries for the work executed under this scope of work. The Contractor will provide service(s) using the following procedures and/or methodology: Unit 1 (9.7 Acres) Cut and buck (8’ lengths) of all downed and dead course woody debris (CWD) not rotten between 3-12” in diameter. Cut material >12” in diameter shall be limbed, bucked, and left laying flat on the forest floor. All other cut debris between 3-12” in diameter shall be piled in piles for burning. Cut all standing dead <20” in DBH (Diameter at breast height). Standing dead >20” DBH will be left as “wildlife trees” but must be limbed up six feet in height. If standing dead is a safety concern, it may be left with project manager approval. All cut standing dead shall be limbed, bucked (8’ lengths), and left lying flat on the forest floor. Limbs and all other cut debris between 3-12” in diameter shall be piled in piles for burning. Live standing marked in Orange paint are not to be cut “leave trees”. All other live standing conifer shall be cut, bucked and piled for burning between 3-12” DBH. Cut material >12” DBH shall be limbed, bucked, and left lying flat on the forest floor. No live aspen shall be cut, and avoid damage especially to younger aspen. Stump heights will be flush cut to the ground; no greater than six (6) inches in height on the uphill side. Dead and live branches on live standing leave trees will be limbed up to six feet in height. Understory brush >4’ in height (chokecherry, serviceberry, ninebark, etc…), cut and pile into burn piles. All conifer debris 3-12” in diameter will be stacked in burn piles. Piles must be 20 feet from mature live standing and not to exceed eight feet in height and width. Debris must be bucked into manageable lengths and can’t exceed 8 feet in length. 1-3” diameter conifer debris will be bucked as needed and scattered ensuring debris is lying flat on the forest floor. Unit 2 (15.8 Acres) Cut and buck (8’ lengths) of all downed and dead course woody debris (CWD) not rotten between 3-12” in diameter. Cut debris >12” in diameter shall be limbed, bucked, and left lying flat on the forest floor. All other cut debris between 3-12” in diameter shall be piled in piles for burning.
