Specifications include, but are not limited to: The State of Maine is seeking proposals for community-level outreach, housing policy/systems change, and Community Health Worker services to decrease childhood Lead Poisoning. Category 1: Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Services are intended to create local conditions which encourage lead-safe housing and to educate families and decision makers about childhood Lead Poisoning risk factors and prevention strategies. Category 1 will focus resources on activities that are demonstrated to have the largest impact on Lead Poisoning’s root causes, including providing families and property owners the tools to identify and address Lead Hazards in residential properties and creating policies and systems that encourage property maintenance in older housing or the development of new, lead-free, replacement housing. Category 2: Case Management Support Services are intended to provide cultural supports for families with children who are in Case Management with the Department. Category 2 will bridge cultural, language, and systemic barriers to utilizing the Department’s Case Management services. The awarded Bidder through an understanding of the Department’s Case Management process shall serve as an educator and liaison to the Department’s Case Management team for immigrant, refugee and asylum-seeking families living in counties with high Lead Poisoning rates. In addition, the awarded Bidder shall assist the Department in identifying Case Management system process improvements to ensure future services are culturally appropriate and to strengthen the CLPPU Case Management services for all Maine residents.
