Specifications include, but are not limited to: The contractor is to perform tri-annual preventative maintenance at each site and calibrate the instruments according to FAA inspection requirements. The facilities shall be maintained in accordance with the standards that have been set forth by the FAA in advisory circular FAA AC 150/5220-16E. Only FAA authorized maintenance personnel can accomplish repairs on the facilities and return them to service following an outage. All routine and non-routine tests, meter readings and entries into FAA forms will be performed only by technician(s) who hold a current FAA Verification Authority on the specific type of equipment. The contractor shall respond to malfunctions and/or outages within 48 hours of becoming aware of a problem and shall complete repairs and return the unit to service within 72 hours, unless repairs within this time frame are not possible due to factors beyond the control of the contractor. If a Service Request remains unresolved past fifteen (15) working days, the monthly service cost for the affected site or sites (as a fraction of the total monthly maintenance bill) will be forfeited by the Contractor. The contractor shall be the primary point of contact on all issues that concern operation and maintenance of the AWOS units and shall coordinate all related activities with the airport manager at each site and the Iowa DOT. The contractor shall enter maintenance work reports, via email, within 72 hours after the work is completed. Any AWOS equipment will be replaced on a case-by-case basis where the successful contractor will quote parts/equipment replacement before proceeding. The Iowa Department of Transportation will accept the quotation or may furnish the parts/equipment to be installed by the contractor. No additional labor cost will be allowed for AWOS repairs.
