Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Matanuska-Susitna Borough requests bids from qualified contractors to provide a new water well and associated plumbing to provide a water supply for domestic needs for the building and firefighting apparatus tank filling. BASE BID: A contractor is to provide all materials, construct and/or install to a water well with a 6” casing to an anticipated depth of 240 ft. A contractor shall conduct a 24-hour constant rate test and water quality testing. Drill a well that sustains a rate of no less than 15 gpm for 24 hours. If practical connect well to existing pipe and electrical to minimize the need for trenching. The existing well is to stay in operation until the new well is approved for operation. Water from this new well is primarily for supplying domestic needs for the fire station. Its secondary purpose, but of no less importance is to maintain the underground storage tank in a full state at all times. There is currently a manual tank fill system in place where one can fill the tank from within the fire station. In the future the well may be used for potable supply to a bathroom within the building.
