Specifications include, but are not limited to: A. The contractor shall be knowledgeable in the construction procedures and equipment necessary for cleaning canals. The contractor shall be licensed and bonded in the state of Oregon. B. The contractor shall clean the canal so as to reestablish the original flowline grade between the in and out culverts . KCDSD will randomly check elevations of cleaned flow lines for verification of work. Contractor shall use equipment that is capable of grade control between culverts. The excavation equipment shall be capable of reaching both sides of the canal from the access road. C. Drainage Canal Cleaning The contractor shall use dump trucks and excavation equipment appropriate for the project and shall dispose of the excavation as follows. • Ownership of the native excavated material belongs to the contractor to dispose of. The Klamath Irrigation District (KID) has a potential site to haul ditch and road excavation. Contact Jaxsen Sikorski for location details. (541) 882-6661 • Non native items including, but not limited to, garbage, shopping carts and furniture shall be removed from the right of way and becomes the property of the contractor to be disposed of in a manner applicable with the laws of Oregon. An option for disposal is at the Klamath County Landfill. D. Access Road Earthwork In random locations and over time ditch spoils have been stockpiled on/along the drainage canals access roads. The contractor shall remove approximately 4”-18” of the old ditch spoils from the top of the access road. The result will be a 12’ wide top for the access road for future use. A survey was completed for quantities and location and is identified on the plans. • Approximate Engineer stations 20+25 to station 25+50. The estimated excavated material is 150-170 cubic yards. See plan sheets for details. • Approximate Engineer stations 86+70 to station 91+00. The estimated excavated material is 60-80 cubic yards. See plan sheets for details. E. Tree Removal • All trees and limbs identified for removal become the property of the contractor and shall be hauled off site for disposal. Trees can be removed down to the stump or in their entirety as elected by the contractor. • Where the plans indicate to trim trees the removal equipment may be mechanical by the excavation equipment, chain saw or hand saw as elected. Trees identified for trimming that exist on private property shall be trimmed with care so as to not damage or kill the tree.
