Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. Task 1 – Site Prep: The Contractor shall be responsible for providing following item under this work task: a. Safety – The Contractor shall set-up and remove all necessary fencing and barriers required to safely complete work under this scope. All work shall be performed such that there is no interruption to surrounding properties, roads, and the Site. The Contractor is responsible for the safety of all people on the Site for the duration of the project, including all of Contractor’s subcontractors. Contractor shall prepare a health and safety plan for the project and document all daily safety briefing, information, hazards, and incidents. A copy of these safety documents shall be provided to the Owner at the end of the project or when requested. b. Access – Contractor shall work with the Site Owner’s representative to secure access to the Site during the work. The Site is on an active corrections facility and may require sign in and out for all Contractors personnel and subcontractors, per Owner’s requirements. c. Stockpile/Work Area Prep – The Contractor shall prepare all areas designated as part of the work area. This may include the installation of gravel pads or plates to stabilize areas for staging equipment or materials. Contractor shall provide all steel plates and other devices necessary for to complete the work safely. Contractor will work with the Owner to have adequate room for the staging of the work (for equipment and materials). The location of the work area has plenty of area for staging equipment and materials and is within the property perimeter. Owner still does not guarantee the security of the Contractor’s materials and equipment. 2. Task 2 – Erosion Control: The Contractor is responsible for all the following work items in this task to complete and adhere to all erosion control permit requirements and inspections: a. Silt Fence Installation – The silt fencing is estimated at about 760-ft in total length (see plans for location). Refer to the plans and specification 01 57 13 Temporary Erosion and Sediment Control for additional details on the silt fence materials and installation. b. Additional Erosion Control Measures – The Contractor shall employ additional erosion and sediment control measures as required by the permit or as directed by the Owner. Refer to the plans and specification 01 57 13 Temporary Erosion and Sediment Control. c. Construction Dewatering – If groundwater or water seeps are encountered during the excavation and installation work, the Contractor shall dewater the excavation per the specifications and dispose of the water into the adjacent drainage swale or as directed by the Owner. Dewatering can include naturally draining the water down to the existing swale, per approval of the Owner. 3. Task 3 – Storm Line Installation: The Contractor shall install the storm line between the connection point at the existing 8-inch and 6-inch storm culverts and the outfall to the existing drainage ditch. The work includes the following main components: a. Trenching – Contractor shall install the trenches in accordance with the plans and Earthworks specifications. This includes opening the excavations at the connection points to ensure a safe work excavation for connections. The estimated trench distances for all underground lines are shown on the plans (see Sheet C010). It is expected that the Contractor may encounter boulders below grade that may require the contractor to excavate the boulder, as approved by the Owner. Contractor’s bid should cover the work to remove by excavation several sub-grade boulders (up to 10) and appropriate backfill and compaction of those excavations using native materials, unless otherwise directed by Owner. The boulders shall be placed at the southwestern corner of the property or nearby location per direction of the Owner. b. Piping Installation – The Contractor shall install all underground storm lines and connections to the existing culverts and outfall to the existing drainage ditch. This work will also include the installation of storm cleanouts in accordance with the plans/specifications. All connections shall be made in accordance with the plans and specifications. This work also includes installation of all piping, fittings, and cleanouts. All new lines shall be 8-inch C-900 PVC unless otherwise approved by Owner. Contractor shall install appropriate reducers at all connection points where the existing piping is not 8-inch diameter. c. Backfill and Compaction – Contractor shall backfill and compact the trenches and excavations in accordance with the plans and the specifications. Contractor shall use imported materials around the piping and native materials per the plans and specifications. Contractor shall have compaction tests conducted for all trench and excavation areas, per the plans and specifications. Backfill compaction shall comply with the specifications and not deemed complete until testing confirms compliant backfill compaction. d. Boulder Removal – Contractor shall move all aboveground boulders where the same work conflicts occur. These boulders can be moved to area adjacent to the work aera with other boulders.
